    Engineering Graduates will be able to:

    • PSO 1:Student should practice Mechanical Engineering and apply same by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
    • PSO 2:Student should recognize, investigate, formulate and use the suitable techniques in Mechanical Engineering to obtain solution for various problems.
    • PSO 3:Student should understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
    • PSO 4: Student should demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

From the HOD's Desk:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, was started in the year 1979. Our department offers undergraduate and Post Graduate courses in Mechanical Engineering with the present intake of 180 students and 36 students respectively. Both Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students are getting ranks consistently at the University Level and the Department has the excellent Placement record with the students getting placed in reputed core industries as well as IT sectors. Our students have won awards at various technical events, conferences and symposiums held at prestigious institutions. The Department has dedicated and experienced faculty team with more than twelve PhDs, driving the department towards excellence in academics as well as R & D activities.

Inauguration of Center for Proficiency Development:

Center for Proficiency development was inaugurated in the Department of Mechanical Engineering on 27th April, 2017. The center was inaugurated by Dr. C.P.S.Prakash, Principal, DSCE in the presence of Dr. H. Rama Krishna, Vice Principal, Dr.R.Keshavamurthy, HOD, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Narasimhe Gowda, Prof. Ramesh and the other faculties of the department.

The department of Mechanical Engineering entered into a memorandum of understanding with Altair Business solutions on 24th March, 2017. As a part of MoU, it is proposed to initiate Proficiency Development Certification Course in the field of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE).

Department Highlights

Final year students bagged the trophy for 1st place and received cash award of One Lac rupees for their idea titled- “Auto adjusting and positioning of light-sensitive roof panels to maximize day-lighting in buildings”.
