Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at DSIT !
Mechanical Engineers play a significant role in the design and manufacturing of all of the products and systems essential to everyday modern life: things like home appliances, bikes, iPods, electric power generation, recreational equipment, wheelchairs, airplanes, robots, industrial equipment to name a few.
The mission of the ME Course is to foster the technical, critical thinking, and communication skills necessary for students to contribute to the engineering profession and to the well-being of society.
We have a team of dedicated and experienced faculty, driving the department towards excellence in teaching. Our faculty conducts a wide variety of innovative research. These research activities complement our educational mission, address the ever- changing needs of industry and society, and contribute to the economic and social development of the nation.
The Department organizes Seminars, workshops on wide-ranging topics every year. We have a very good Industry-Institute interaction and we organize Industrial Visits for students periodically to provide an opportunity for the students to interact with working professionals from industry. We believe in holistic development of students and aim at identifying the hidden skills, developing the personality and inculcating human values to mold our students into technically-qualified professionals ready to face the competitive world.
Backed by a number of well-developed laboratories such as Computer Aided Engineering Drawing Lab, the department also has well-established basic laboratories such as Basic Workshop Practice, Mechanical Testing lab, Foundry & Forging Lab, Machine Shop, Mechanical Measurements & Metrology Lab, Fluid power lab, C-Programming &MAT lab with full-fledged facilities.
