About Library

Dayananda Sagar Institute of Technology (DSIT) Library is established in the year 1980–81 has earned a strong reputation for academic excellence in engineering, with its state-of-the-art library being a key contributor to this success. The library boasts a vast collection of books, e-books, and the latest journals and periodicals. It also provides access to e-journals and e-books through a dedicated digital library. Additionally, the DSIT Library includes a AV auditorium for conducting of seminars, workshop. The library is equipped with CCTV cameras for enhanced security. 100 reading seating arrangement are made for staff and students. This library is equipped with a fire extinguisher for safety purpose. The library's mission is to offer outstanding facilities and services, aiming to nurture engineering professionals who meet global standards. The library plays a crucial role in supporting the academic and research needs of the DSIT community. A dedicated staff is provided to assist for providing of the library services.

Rules and Regulations:

The library rules are introduced to regulate the utilization of resources and will be examined on a regular basis to adapt to changing needs.
This library operates on open access system thus books taken from the racks will not be replaced. They should be left only on the table.
Books should be returned/ renewed on or before the due date, otherwise fine will be charged.
Before borrowing books check the condition of the book.
The borrower is responsible for any damage or loss caused to the library books borrowed by users. Incase lose of book should be replaced with new book.
Members should not write or make any mark on book/ journals taken out for consultation or loan.
College dress code applies to library also.
The use of cell phones is strictly prohibited with in the library.
Books in the library are assets of the institution. All users are required to protect the library books against mutilation, theft and other malpractices.
A photocopy of full book is not permitted.

Admission to the Library

To enter the library smart cards (ID card) are to be flashed on the access control machine for punch in and punch out. Users can deposit their belongings at the Property Counter, which is under CCTV surveillance.

Library Membership

All the Staff and students members of DSIT are eligible to become the members of the library. Documents cannot be borrowed without a membership registration.

To obtain library membership student must submit the following documents.

Web OPAC (Books searching facility)

The DSIT Library's OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog), is used by library patrons to search for materials without a librarian's assistance which is user-friendly, web-based system that allows students, faculty, and staff to search and access the library's collection of books, journals, e-books, and other resources. It offers advanced search functionalities to help users easily locate materials based on title, author, subject, and other criteria.

Services

Reference Service

The library keep a separate reference collection that includes Text books, rare books, Reference books, Atlases, General books. The Reference Section facility is extended to the Students, Staff and Faculty Members of the Institute.

Circulation Section

Circulation section is created to facilitate the users in getting the required books on right time to right users to save the time of the reader.
1. Documents are issued to all eligible members as per their entitlements.
2. Open access system is followed in the library. Users are allowed to choose any book of their choice.
3. Use the online Web OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) which displays the availability and status of the books.

The library receive the print journals. Journals are arranged and displayed subject wise in the periodical section.

Digital Library

The Digital Library is located on the mezzanine floor of the 'B' block in the Library. It stores collections in digital formats, allowing users to access data via computers.

AV Auditorium (media Resources Centre)

This Auditorium has sufficient space to accommodate 80 people. There is high tech seats, a raked floor and complete air conditioning. It is intended to serve as a multipurpose theatre. It is perfect for lectures and plenary sessions at conference. Award-winning movies are occasionally screened on request.

Print Zone

Network printing, photocopying, Spiral Binding and Lamination facilities are made available at the basement of library. Reference books, question papers and journals are allowed to take for photocopying with nominal charges.
